Building on the goals learnt in earlier conversations about the potential of the continent’s luxury offering, African Fashion International (through its Executive Chairperson, Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe) offered a homegrown African perspective at this year’s International Herald Tribune Conference in Rome.
Dr. Moloi-Motsepe presented a “view as to the tremendous potential in relation to the production of luxury fashion and potential for consumption of fashion and luxury goods in this region.” She will also “demonstrate some of the enabling socio-economic development factors to the fashion and luxury industries in Africa.” CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE FULL SPEECH.
In making sure that the continent is not only heard at the conference, but also draws as much out of the event, some of Africa’s top fashion designers attended: Taibo Bacar (winner of Designer of the Year (Africa) at this year’s Africa Fashion Awards), Laurence Airline (winner of Emerging Designer of the Year) and SA Tourism’s Designer of the Year Thula Sindi were present.
